How do you get a WriteMark?
The WriteMark as an audit tool

The WriteMark assessment process is an ideal tool for carrying out an organisation-wide document audit. We recommend that you submit 20–50 documents representing all types of documents written by your organisation.

Audit objectives

The usual objectives of a WriteMark document audit are to:

  • gain insight into the general standard of writing across your organisation measured against the 28 plain English elements in the WriteMark assessment checklist
  • test how well your written communication reflects your organisation’s vision, values, and desired image
  • identify possible differences in writing quality across various work groups within your organisation
  • assess how well your written communication serves your organisation’s operating objectives.

The audit process

We will carry out the audit using the elements of the WriteMark plain English standard and any other criteria that are important to you. We can also interview document users if you wish.

You will receive an individual report on each document along with a summary document that reports on the audit objectives.
